Fashion for Good backs Spinnova to scale the fibre technology innovation

Fashion for Good endorses Spinnova’s ambition to create an ecosystem (consortium) to scale Spinnova’s fibre technology innovation. The collaboration between Spinnova and Fashion for Good outlines yet an important step in Spinnova’s ambitions to increase the availability of sustainable SPINNOVA® fibre in the textile materials market.

Fashion for Good brings innovative solutions to the forefront by fostering collaboration within the fashion industry. They connect disruptive innovative solutions with different brands and serve as a hub of intelligence and experimentation for the latest insights. They empower a network consisting of brands, retailers, suppliers, innovators, and funders to collaborate and drive change.

Fashion for Good and Spinnova share a vision, as both aim to unite the fashion stakeholders to transform and build a more sustainable industry. Fashion for Good supports and endorses Spinnova’s ecosystem by helping shape its development and structure.

“As we build this multi-stakeholder consortium to bring textile materials with sustainable SPINNOVA® fibre to market, Fashion for Good’s support is invaluable. From our earliest discussions exploring the ecosystem models, their insights helped shape our approach. With a global network and deep expertise in fostering collaboration across the fashion industry, Fashion for Good will play a key role in assembling and managing this unique ecosystem, one we are truly excited about," says Pedro Brito, the Senior Commercial Manager at Spinnova.

“At Fashion for Good, we've learned that breakthrough materials don't scale in isolation, but they need ecosystem coordination. The consortium model Spinnova is building represents exactly the kind of coordinated ecosystem approach that next-generation materials need to scale. This isn't just about proving technology works, but about building the infrastructure and capability across the value chain that makes adoption viable. We're proud to have supported the development of this initiative driven by Spinnova,” comments Katrin Ley, Managing Director at Fashion for Good.

Spinnova – The textile material innovation

Spinnova technology transforms the way textiles are manufactured globally. Based in Finland, Spinnova has developed breakthrough patented technology for making textile fibre out of wood pulp or waste, such as leather, textile, or agricultural cropping waste, without harmful chemicals or dissolving.

Spinnova technology creates no side streams in the fibre production process, and the SPINNOVA® fibre has minimal CO2 emissions and water use, as well as being biodegradable and recyclable. Spinnova technology uses a mechanical process which gives the fibre the look and feel of a natural cellulosic fibre such as cotton.

Spinnova’s shares (SPINN) are listed on the Nasdaq First North Growth Market Finland.
